Hello there, reader. I am Chloe, and yes, I came up with the extremely inventive nickname teacherclolo. I know it’s never been done before.
Besides the point. Let’s dive in.
I am currently a TEFL teacher working in France, and I’ve been here since I graduated in 2023. Languages have always been a passion of mine since I was 11 years old. I fell in love with French first when I reached year 6 (if you couldn’t tell I’m Bri-ish). We had learnt the regular ‘er’ verb endings (a classic starting point for MFL). She had taught us a chant, it went a bit like this (please chant enthusiastically)
‘e’
‘es’
‘e(pause)e’
‘ons’
‘ez’
‘ent(pause) ENT!!’
From this moment I was hooked, the musicality and the mystery of language just drew me in and I never looked back.
The teacher is of course an artist, but being an artist does not mean that he or she can make the profile, can shape the students. What the educator does in teaching is to make it possible for the students to become themselves ~ Paulo Freire
Along with my passion for education, I have recently developed a new obsession with the rapid progression of AI and its relation to education.
One Wednesday, I had a training on “how to create digital pedagogical content.” I mean, I love using Canva as much as the next person. But… I wasn’t expecting to be told, “IN 5-10 YEARS, YOUR JOB AS A TEACHER WILL SEIZE TO EXIST!”
I thought EXCUSE ME? It led to a little internal panic as he explained that the upcoming AI will eradicate the role of a teacher altogether.
This dear reader is not what I think, I think this type of fear is dangerous. I believe the role of the teacher will change. However, I don’t think just AI has incited this change, the educational system has never been a one-size-fits-all thing (as we know, even with clothes that never true anyway.) I believe that deep reflection is necessary for the future of education and how we can utilise new technology and teaching methods to help everyone succeed.
So I am getting into all the nitty gritty details about what AI is? How can we use it safely in education? What ages should do what? Will we lose our critical thinking skills? WILL ROBOTS TAKE OVER THE WORLD?
You need to be careful with what you look at online; some people are instilling fear, and others are there to help you understand.

So join me on my adventure of learning and discovery. I think the coming years for pedagogy are going to be very interesting, and I’m intrigued to find out what happens next!
